Eight Ends is an app and a website that Canadian curling clubs use to run their members, leagues, payments and messages. This page explains what we collect, why, where we keep it and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

Your club decides what it asks its members for and why. We process that information for the club. For your Eight Ends account itself, we are responsible. Write to hello@eightends.com with any question about your information.

What we collect

• Your account: your email address, your name and your language. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they share your email address and name with us.
• What your club asks for: for example your phone number, your date of birth, an emergency contact, and the waivers and consents you sign (your typed name, the date and the version).
• Your club activity: memberships and roles, league registrations and waitlists, teams, scores, spare requests, team chat messages, event tickets and shop orders.
• Payments: the amount, the status and a Stripe reference. Your card or bank details go to Stripe only. We never see or store them.
• Your device: a notification token from Apple, so that we can send you notifications.
• Usage: the screens and buttons you use, crash reports and your survey answers. On the web app, a recording of the page with every text, entry and image hidden. We link this to a random account number, never to your name or email address.

Why we use it

To run your club's services: sign-up, schedules, scores, payments and messages. To tell you about your games, your payments and your club. To keep accounts and payments safe. To find problems and make the app better. We never sell your information and we show no ads.

Who sees it

• Your club's administrators see what the club needs to run its leagues, events and payments.
• Other members see your name on teams, schedules and standings, and in your team chat.
• The service providers below process information for us, and only for us.
• We share information when the law requires it.

Where we keep it

We store your information in Canada, with Amazon Web Services in Montréal. Backups are in Calgary. These providers process some information outside Canada:

• Stripe processes payments, in Canada and the United States.
• PostHog stores usage data in the European Union.
• Cloudflare protects our websites and sends our emails, through its global network.
• Apple delivers notifications. Apple and Google handle your sign-in if you choose them.

Emails and marketing

Messages about your games, your payments and your account are part of the service. Your club sends marketing, such as a newsletter or a renewal campaign, only with your consent, as Canada's anti-spam law requires. The unsubscribe link removes you at once.

Your choices and rights

• See and download your information: "Download my data" in Profile.
• Correct it: edit your profile, or ask your club.
• Delete your account: "Delete my account" in Profile. This removes you from every club's list. Clubs keep their payment records without your name.
• Usage data: untick "Share usage data" in Profile.
• Notifications: turn them off in your phone's settings.
• Complain: write to us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or in Québec the Commission d'accès à l'information.

How long we keep it

We keep your account until you delete it. When your membership in a club ends and no consent remains, we remove your name from that club's list; the club keeps its counts and payment records. Data downloads are deleted after 7 days. Backups are kept for up to 35 days.

Security

Your information is encrypted in transit and in storage, and only the people who run the service can reach it. You sign in with a code sent by email or with a passkey, so there is no password to steal.

Children

A member under the age of majority registers with a parent or guardian, who signs the waivers for them.

This website

eightends.com uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It counts visits without knowing who you are (PostHog, without cookies). We host our own fonts, so your browser asks no other site for them.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update this page and its date. We tell you in the app about an important change.
